Bruno Ribeiro Tavares
Advisor to Minister for Environment and Climate Action Portuguese Republic
Bruno Ribeiro Tavares was born in Lisbon, in 1982.
He began his training in Environmental Engineering at NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA University), earning a Master's Degree in Environmental Citizenship and Public Participation. He attended the Sea Studies Advanced Program at the Institute of Political Studies of the Catholic University of Portugal (Bartolomeu Dias Award for Best Student), and is currently a PhD candidate in Globalization Studies at NOVA Doctoral School.
Professionally, he began his activity as a research assistant at NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA University; 2004-2005), having been auditor at Sonae Sierra Management Portugal (2005), consultant to the Municipality of Sintra (2005-2008) and Advisor for Environment, Spatial Planning, Energy, Agriculture, Sea and Local Administration to the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group in the Portuguese Parliament (Assembleia da República) during the X, XI and XII Legislatures (2008-2015).
Between 2015 and march 2022 (XIII and XIV Legislatures), he was Advisor and Senior Advisor to the President of the Portuguese Parliament (Assembleia da República), also being its Deputy Chief of Staff.
Since march 2022, he is Advisor to the Minister for Environment and Climate Action (XXIII Constitutional Government), being responsible for international relations and following, in particular, issues related to environment, energy and climate.
He was an association leader and, on behalf of the National Environmental Defense Associations, Member of the Youth Advisory Board to the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports in the XVII, XVIII and XIX Constitutional Governments (2007-2015).
He was also Member of the Board of the Portuguese Federation of Cycle Tourism and Bicycle Users (2006-2015) and Member of the Advisory Board for Sustainable Mobility.
