Luiz is interested in how laws and regulations must respond to enable the transition to net-zero emissions and how the digitalization and electrification of modern society drive the demand for renewable energy.
He co-founded Solar Americas Capital Limited (SAC), a photovoltaics energy asset owner, developing, building, financing, and operating projects, supporting corporate clients to access affordable clean energy. SAC has its headquarters in London, with assets and projects under development in the UK, Brazil, and Portugal.
Before SAC, he worked for blue-chip telecommunication companies such as Bellsouth International (BCP), Brasil Telecom (now Oi), and Claro, leading the development and construction of large fixed and mobile networks in Brazil. He also founded, secured investments, and had successful exits for innovative startups like Skysites Americas Limited, a telecoms asset owner (now IHS Towers).
He is a PhD Candidate in Law (King’s College London), holds a Masters in Science (Coventry University, as a recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship from the British Government), Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (UPE), Bachelor in Science in Physics (UFPE), and Bachelor of Law and Social Sciences (UFRJ). Luiz is a qualified lawyer in Brazil (OAB) and Portugal (OA).

1. What does your organization do in the energy transition?
Solar Americas Capital Limited is a renewable energy asset owner building a portfolio of assets in Brazil and Europe. We support corporate client to access affordable clean energy supporting their decarbonization strategy.
2. Why did you agree to get involved in the Lisbon Energy Summit?
Lisbon Energy Summit is a unique forum in Europe bringing together the key stakeholders of the energy industry promoting valuable broad range of debates covering from emerging technology to regulation and policy making.
3. What is one thing as an industry/society we can do today to move the needle on accelerating the transition?
The transition will be accelerated by enforcing strong compliance requirements and financial incentives to ban fossil fuel based energy.
